This is the first comprehensive book on Iranian mammals. The result of a project by the former Game and Fish Department, this comprehensively illustrated guide follows a similar work on the Birds of Iran. At the time of publication, Iran had an extremely diverse but little known mammal fauna, and as such a tremendous amount of time and dedication went into field and laboratory research prior to compiling this. As a result of this work, the official number of mammal species recorded in Iran increased from 125 to 148 - 112 of which are illustrated herein. The mammals dealt with are arranged in habitat groups rather than taxonomic order.
A Guide to the Mammals of Iran compiled and edited by Fred A. Harrington Jr. for the Iran Department of the Environment. Published by the Derpartment of the Environment 1977. 89pp. Hardback.
