This collection of short stories by Gerald Kersh, a little known British author after his death in 1968 centre round his time as a guardsman during WWII. He says in the foreword "This book is not meant to be sat down to and solemnly chewed and digested. It is a light plateful of bit and pieces, to be picked at over an aperitif." During his lifetime Kersh was a popular writer though nowadays it is hard to come across his books.
Hardback. The boards are very slightly worn but this little volume itself is in good condition considering its age.
