Advert Description

Oxfam Books & Music Beaconsfield

Presumed First (1909) edition of Kipling's poems of adventure and loss, reprinted from 'The Seven Seas', with 12 coloured illustrations laid in, each with a protective sheet giving a thumbnail sketch of the picture following.  The pictures and the many in line drawings, by W Heath Robinson, are very lovely.
The book, bound in blue cloth, has gilt lettering on the spine and an embossed gilt George and the Dragon on front.   The binding is tight, the foxed text block is gilded on top and rough cut on side and bottom.  The spine has darkened and is bruised at the top.   The lower corners of the front and back have lost their colour.  The previous owner's name etc is stamped on the front end-papers.  There is no jacket (as issued?)
