Oxfam Books & Music Beaconsfield
A first edition, first published in 1947, of Delderfield's first novel set in a English town and centred on a journalist returning from RAF duties in WW2.
The unclipped dustjacket, which is protected by polythene, has a hole/repaired tear in the centre of the spine and other wear and is discoloured. The sound hardback cover has shelfwear and also some discolouration. The binding is sound and the pages unmarked apart from spotting on the edges. It was printed to post-war economy standards and this is reflected in the quality of the paper.
