Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. Jan Ouwersloot, who is counted by the National Office for Art Historical Documentation as part of the painter's movement "De polpulisten", often painted subjects from his own daily life in a naively realistic style.
I will be offering more work by Ouwersloot in the upcoming weeks. I do so on behalf of the Ouwersloot heirs. The painter's unattached daughter had determined that after her death her father's cherished works would be sold for the benefit of an animal shelter in the east of the country.
I thought it was therefore appropriate that I started with a portrait of the tabby cat owned by the Ouwersloot family last week. Now it is the dachshund's turn to shine.

Because the work is relatively unknown but is still highly valued by collectors, I have added some auction proceeds. 43562421
