Oil on canvas depicting Magdalene in ecstasy is partial variant of a larger Crucifixion composition, so far unknown, to which a painting auctioned in the past by Antiques-Delaval also refers (attached in the last photo. On the left the partial of the cross, behind the contrite figure of Magdalene, an architectural glimpse with an aqueduct, an obelisk and a domed temple, clear allusions to Roman classicism; lightning strikes the sacred building, as dictated by the Gospel.
The drapery and style suggest a dating to the 18th century and a location in the Roman context.
Painting in good condition, old re-lining, original stretcher.
Painting without frame.
Accurate packaging. 43422595
