Oxfam Books & Music Wells
This early eighteenth century edition of John Bunyan's Holy War is in poor condition, with many pages torn and crumbling. There are still some remnants of the leather which covered the boards, and the binding remains intact, as do many of the original woodcut illustrations throughout. A piece of cardboard has been placed around the volume for safer handling, but is not attached by any means. The book comes as it was donated to us, within a wooden "Call of the East" Burma Cheroots box, a compliments slip from Bristol Central Library, and two typewritten letters from Bristol Central Libraries (dated 1st April 1967) which identify the book as 'any one of four editions between 1721 and 1759'.
