Thistle is a 6 year old Cocker spaniel x collie who came into rescue alongside his Mum and his sister after they were taken out of a kennel facility where they have spent their whole lives. Thistle and his sister Fleur were born there and have never known life outside of those bars, so not surprisingly he’s finding everything a little overwhelming right now. Thistle is a sweet guy who can be a little shy but is generally very social with people. He has taken to life in the house very well and enjoys his home comforts like his bed. He will require further work in his new home with his housebreaking but is getting better every day. Thistle has not yet started walking outside of the house on the lead as it’s all a bit new but we have started garden walking so this will also require further work in his new home. Thistle is good with other dogs but can be a bit grumbly when he’s unsure, this doesn’t manifest in any aggressive behaviors and is very easily corrected. Thistle has shown no interest in the resident cats whilst in foster so could live with a dog savvy cat.
Lack of early crucial nutrition in his life has caused him to develop knuckling in his front legs. This does not affect his mobility or cause him pain but does cause him to stand very square. Our vets have confirmed this will require no further treatment, is unlikely to cause him problems in the future but can make him look a bit strange at times. They have said there may be a chance on a good diet that it could improve.
Thistle is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and will be subject to a homecheck and adoption fee. He will also come with 4 weeks free insurance and a voucher for a box of free food.
