Early 19th Century Bavarian Mountain Walkers Cane

This is an ancient stick which has 12 visitors badges riveted to it, from top to bottom they are, Saltburg,which is the largest and is in the form of a stags head. Tirol, Innsbruck Tyrol, Venezia, kanzel Bahn, St Petersberg, Villach karnten, Satzburg, Mariaworth Karnten, Taverntunnel-Lange 8550m, Rennel Rennero 7370m, and finally Telldenkmal.
Some of these badges are really nice works of art in themselves having been enamelled onto either brass or alluminium.
The cane has a steel ferral with a spike type end to it obviously for the icy conditions that the stick was used in. Read more
