Advert Description
Alfred Meakin Plates, Approx 270 Mm Diameter. "Fair Winds. Original Engravings Depicting Historical Scenes Of Chinese Export To America. The Friendship Of Salem. Permanent Colours. Dishwasher And Detergent Safe. Alfred Meakin Staffordshire England" On Reverse Great Condition No Cracks This is a brown Alfred Meakin of Staffordshire England Fairwinds dinner plate. The pattern is “Friendship of Salem” the vintage I believe is from the 1960s to 1980s , only because of the label on the back stating "dishwasher safe". It was manufactured at a time period when Meakin was influenced by earlier designs. The interior pattern features the Friendship of Salem, which is a ship, with original copper engravings depicting a historical scene of Chinese export to America. It depicts an old world ship cruising along the ocean waters highly detailed in brown over a cream background.
