Sterling Silver hallmarked antique shoe button hook made by J.C.P.& Co. [J.C. Plimpton of Liverpool] A very rare example if you collect button hooks or fine silver they were only produced between 1902 and 1905. J. C. Plimpton and Co of Plimpton's Buildings, Old Hall Street, Liverpool; and at 25 Phipp Street, Great Eastern Street, London, EC. (1922) John Calvin Plimpton was an American citizen who moved to the UK, probably in the 1880s, with his wife Caroline Augusta Bird. Their son Charles Bird Plimpton, was the inventor of Bayko, the world's first plastic construction toy. In various directories from 1894 to 1901 J. C.
