Advert Description

Grandad's Old Bowler Hat in Black 7 1/4" made by Tress & Co London for Nevill Strange & Co, Leamington Spa and Nottingham.
Beautiful clean condition, thumb mark from where it was tipped in politeness tiny mark on dome as shown in the picture otherwise perfect and a wonderful part of history. How old it is I don't know?
The nearest I can find to describe it is :-HANDMADE HAT
THE HOMBURG FUR FELT HAT
This classic high crown hat has pinchable 'eyes' and crown, and can be worn in either a formal or informal style. Made famous by numerous Christys Homburg wearers - such as The Godfather, and of course, Winston Churchill, this classic high crown hat has pinchable 'eyes' and crown, and can be worn in either open crown (bowler) or 'gutter crown' (simple crease) style. The brim has an up-turned 'kettle-curl' and is bound at the edge. A true hat-makers' hat, the Homburg has had many illustrious wearers - offering either a formal (high crown bowler style) or softer look, depending on the occasion or outfit.
A 1935 folded paper along with cotton wool to reduce the size was found in the base of the crown so it's at least early vintage.
It doesn't appear to have pinch-able "eye's" not that I know what I am looking for!
It does however have the kettle curl on the sides.
