‘METROPOLITAN SEMINARS IN ART’ CIRCA 1959, PUBLISHED BY THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART.
A complete collection of 12 volumes of art books published in 1959 by The Metropolitan Museum Of Art in the USA, entitled ‘Metropolitan Seminars In Art’, by John Canaday. Canada was chief art critic for The New York Times from 1959 to 1973.
The 12 volumes have no dust jackets but the covers are in very good condition with a colour plate attached to each cover. This series of seminars were conceived to give the reader a panoramic view of 2,500 years of Western painting in chronological sequence, with one historical period of painting covered in each portfolio. Each volume has 32 pages of text with monochrome illustrations and includes twelve large full colour plates relevant to each portfolio. All of these full colour reproductions are in mint condition and are removable from envelopes within each portfolio.
