This performance received some good reviews.
The sets were very impressive and one of the best that the ROH has done, with elegant third empire backdrops and Parisean scenes, including in Act I a drop down version of the famous L'Opera curtain.
The moving from one scene to another was also interestingly handled.
The costums were also elegant including the soldiers French uniforms.
The orchestral playing by the Royal Opera House orchestra, conducted by Dan Ettinger, was excellent, along with the singing and performances with Michael Fabiano as Foust, Erwin Schrott as Mephistopheles, Irina Lungu as Marguerite.
