This production has had mixed reviews with speculation as to what the three remaining Orpheus productions will be like.
This production is directed by Wayne McGregor with modernistic sets along with the costumes.
The first scene had a Damian Hurst type glass case with Eurydice lying in it, and the second scene had coloured bright lit up panels in hard edge style.
There was much modern Ballet Rambert style dancing that dominated the show with groups of dancers in contemporary dance poses throughout the performance.
The chorus was not actually seen but sung off stage.
There was the famous aria in the final Act.
The orchestral playing by the ENO orchestra was excellent, conducted by Harry Bicket, along with the singing with Alice Coote as Orpheus, Sarah Tynan as Eurydice and Soraya Mafi as Love, which was sung in English translation, along with the spoken dialogue.
