This performance received excellent reviews both for the ballet performance and the sets which were extremely colourful and exotic Italian Renaissance style and design.
The fencing scenes were particularly interesting, and the Renaissance style costumes were superb.
The market place and ballroom were very well done, as was the famous balcony scene.
The final crypt scene was also well done with large memorial statues at the back, and the whole tragic scene was reminiscent of the last Act of Aida.
The orchestral playing by the Royal Opera House orchestra was excellent, conducted by Koen Kessells, Paul Murphey and Pavel Sorokin on various dates, along with the dancing, including Beatriz Stix-Brunell as Juliet, Ryoichi Hirano as Romeo, Luca Acri as Mercutio, Bennet Gartside as Tybalt, Nichl Edmons as Benvolio, and Alistair Marrioutt as Friar Lawrence.
