This revival production has received excellent reviews both for the ballet performance and the sets which were extremely colourful.
The costumes were also very rich and exuberant, and were period 18th Century ancien regime.
The military uniforms were of particular interest with the use of the bicorn hats.
The final Louisiana swamp scene was most effective with dropping vines to give the impression of the swamp everglades where sadly Manon dies in the arms of Des Grieux.
The orchestral playing by the Royal Opera House orchestra was excellent, conducted by Koen Kessels along with the dancing, including Laura Morera as Manon, Frederick Bonelli as Des Grieux, and Luca Acri as Lescaut.
