The photos above are from the original programme, which has been sold, although the scans are scanned from the programme in colour.
This production was based on the 1948 film the Red Shoes, and had extremely colourful and imaginative sets.
The costumes were late 1940's to mirror the film.
There was also another pastiche of the Covent Garden proscenium, as in his Swan Lake, which came backwards and forwards and turned round for the Covent Garden scenes.
The Monte Carlo scenes were David Hockney in style and vibrant colour, with a sea and blue sky and evening sky.
The ending was also dramatic with an American steam train coming at the audience with tragic result for the heroin.
The orchestral playing conducted by Benjamin Pope was excellent, along with the modern style dancing.
