British S.A.S special forces Fought against the Taliban fighters had captured over 600 Taliban Al-Qaeda prisoners
The prisoners were held in a fort known as Qala-i-Janghi Taliban prisoners were in a courtyard being interrogated by CIA agents All of a sudden prisoners revolted killing one of the CIA and forcing the other to flee for his life The prisoners stormed the armoury that
stocked with an array of weapons including AK47s and RPGS. It was clear that the small group of U.S. and Northern Alliance forces guarding the prison were now facing a full scale armed uprising
The fighting raged for 8 days
the SAS, SBS and U.S. Special Forces called in air strikes to keep the enemy's heads down. As Northern Alliance reinforcements arrived, fuel was poured down grates into the tunnels and ignited in an attempt to flush the prisoners out. When that failed, it was decided to flood the tunnels and basements with water. Not long after the uprising was over.
Video footage showed British SAS troops fighting alongside anti-Taliban forces at the time.
Footage showing soldiers not in uniform and with unmistakable British accents at the Qala-i-Janghi fortress, near the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-SharifIt showed the soldiers firing a machine gun at targets from the walls of the fortress.
A SAS soldier took aim with a sniper rifle after a Northern Alliance fighter pointed to a target. A trooper shouted "FAC [forward air control] complete" in a clear British accent and gave thumbs up.
