Advert Description

An Antique Balance/Scales, with an Unusual Weight Draw & Gold Pan Chains.
The base is Mahogany with an Ebonised knob & oak draw bottom.
In expected used condition for an item of this age. It would benefit from a little restoration, as the balance pointer has been replaced by a new soldered one. Also the brass pin is missing that hangs the iron balance itself. Just a crude piece of wire holds it at the moment. The rest of the balance is in brass. The vertical brass column would benefit from a washer, to help it to line up with the front & be screwed tight.
The pan chains look like they are made of gold, as in the last 35 yrs I've owned it, they have never tarnished. Clearly someone's added them in history. They might not be solid or rolled gold. But as I have no real way of finding out, for the purpose of this advertisement, please assume they're not gold, if they turn out to be gold it's a bonus. You are welcome to view in person.
The images also form part of the description.
Can post at extra cost. Postage includes being signed for.
**Postage within the U.K. only**
