OLD ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR - COUNTRY COTTAGES IN SUMMER .

In very good condition, a small original watercolour from probably the early 1900’s by artist Leslie G. Ireland. Entitled Country Cottages In summer and signed by the artist in the bottom right hand corner.
It has obviously been remounted and reframed in the not too distant past, and the whole is in excellent order, although the frame has a few small nicks and scratches on the gilding, but nothing serious at all.

The artist lived in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear. She was a little recorded but listed watercolour artist of village scenes. She had a distinctive style of painting which captured the atmosphere of the countryside in the North East at the turn of the 20th century.
