3 antique Art Nouveau Johnson Bros England Pareek oriental peony tree design plates c1900-19. VGC.
Very good antique used condition. Some very slight use-related surface scratches. A little wear to the highlight line around the rim. Some very small glaze imperfections, mainly on the backs of the plates, dating from manufacture & indicative of age. No other obvious faults, damage or crazing.
Colours still bright.
Not sure of pattern but it looks like an oriental peony tree with pink peony style flowers, blue & green leaves & a few blue daisy style flowers, there is a pretty Art Nouveau style border around the centre of the plate & a plain brown highlight line around the rim. Could be peony tree design - it's not quite the same as modern Indian Tree design as the border is different (Art Nouveau style) and the design is only in the centre of the plate, not extending out to the rim.
At time of listing there were no other examples of this type being offered for sale so it is possibly rare, or a rare survivor of its age.
Marked on base: PAREEK, Johnson Bros, England.
Each plate measures approx 20.4cm diameter, 1.6cm deep max.
Probably date c1900-19 but may be earlier.
Provenance: belonged to a relative (passed down from a previous generation).
