‘Hotel del Caribe’: 48” x 32” x 1” -
part of an original series of 6, with an extra added in more recently, so now 7, which I’ll be adding to over the next few days, exhibited a number of times, not varnished originally - re-touched mostly on the wrap round frame and the edges and now varnished.
These images originally took the form of a mural and have been redrawn, originated and blown back up to their original size and reproduced as high quality prints on canvas. The mural was painted in a cafe in Cowes, the Isle of Wight. The inspiration was drawn from a love of Art Deco design and architecture, a trip to Miami Beach and the ensuing series of photographs and sketches.
The original canvases have been widely exhibited mostly in the South West in a variety of venues, including the Rook Lane Chapel, Frome, the Electric Palace, Bridport and The Boston Tea Party in Exeter.
These canvases are also available new as part of a limited series on Saatchi.
