After the war, and before foreign travel, Blackpool was a mecca for holidaymakers.
Transport from Manchester was always in high demand and the X60 route was high frequency: so much that the operators, Ribble, North Western and LUT, had to hire vehicles from Manchester, SHMD, Leigh and others just to cope.
