Advert Description

Large Circular Victorian Pottery Serving Dish With Lid. White With Blue Line And Gilded Decoration.

This pretty Victorian pottery piece would look lovely in either a traditional or modern environment given its clean classic lines and timeless white glaze with a gilded deep blue band and minimalist gilding on its handles. Its lid has a charming circular finial on top, surrounded by a gilded pattern.

This attractive serving dish would make an ideal centre piece when entertaining – or for special family meals. It could also be used purely as a decorative item – or even be planted up with bulbs and displayed anywhere around the home (without its lid).

There is no maker’s mark on the underside of either the dish or its lid - which is often the case with early Victorian pottery.

As is also common with such pottery, the surface of the dish and lid have a few small imperfections on them.

The dish and lid are in very good used condition for their age, with no chips or cracks or repairs. The gilding is rubbed in places – commensurate with its age and use.

Please refer to the photographs provided to make your own assessment regarding condition.

The size of this dish is: approximately 16 cm high to the top of the central finial on its lid, and approximately 9.5 cm high to the top of the dish when the lid is removed. The top outer diameter of the dish is approximately 22 cm. The two side handles project by approximately 3.5 cm each.
