Advert Description

Pair of Large Oval Victorian Pottery Serving Dishes With Lids. White With Blue Line And Gilded Decoration.

These pretty Victorian pottery pieces would look lovely in either a traditional or modern environment given their clean classic lines and timeless white glaze with a gilded deep blue band and minimalist gilding on their handles.

Although these pieces are useable for their original purpose, they could be used purely as decorative items – or even be planted up with bulbs and displayed anywhere around the home (without their lids).

There is no maker’s mark on the underside of either of the dishes or their lids – which is often the case with early Victorian pottery.

As is common with such pottery, the surfaces of the dishes have a few small imperfections on them, including a cross shaped mark inside one of the dishes.

The dishes and lids are in very good used condition for their age, with no chips or repairs.
One of the lids has a superficial hairline crack on it.
The gilding is rubbed in places – commensurate with its age and use.

Please refer to the photographs provided to make your own assessment regarding condition.

The size of each dish is: approximately 15 cm high to the top of the central handle on each lid, and approximately 8 cm high to the top of the dish when the lid is removed.
The length of each dish, to the outer edge of the two side handles, is approximately 31 cm.
The width of each dish, to their outer edges at their widest part, is approximately 19 cm.
