Pretty Antique Overlaid Ruby Red Glass Dish c.1900 Highly Decorative.
This is a private sale from a pet, smoke and Covid free home.
The dish has been handed down in my family since the early 1900’s and is only being offered for sale now as it no longer fits with my decor.
This unusual piece has a very attractive leaf pattern cut into the underside of its white glass base layer.
A central sun burst motif appears to have been made from clear pressed glass.
The remainder of the dish has been overlaid with ruby red glass (it is not cranberry glass).
Its overall shape is a bit like an ace of spades.
The design incorporates a serrated top all along the top edge of the dish.
Given its age this heavyweight dish is in very good condition overall.
There are some scratches in the ruby overlay and a few chips to the top edge – however, the chips don’t really show unless one looks closely at the dish given the design of the edge was originally produced to look jagged anyway.
