Advert Description

Please feel free to make an offer.

A Rare Antique Rule or Ruler.
It's stamped in numerous places with;
"Dring & Fage Ltd London Makers to the Customs & Excise".
Also stamped;
"Trade Mark" & "Patent 285242"
"Customs & Excise Crown 138X".

I believe it's made from boxwood & brass.

It's basically two rulers that run in parallel with one another, side by side & slide against one another through their joint & brass fixturing at one end. They also pull apart into two pieces.

One segment goes from Zero inch to twenty nine inches. The other goes from thirty two to sixty nine which might give a clue to its actual use?

In expected used condition for an item of this age & nature.
There's a small piece of wood missing internally on the slide part, so you can't see it.
Each part has one end protected by brass.

Each slide is approx 37" long.

A Rare & Unusual Antique Brass Rule, Ruler Measuring Stick or Dipstick.

May have been used for Whisky, Beer or some other fluid, but please do your own research.

Can post at extra cost. Postage includes being signed for.
