This attractive rustic basket hopper is an authentic traditional design for storing vegetables which has been created using carefully hand woven wicker (possibly willow).
Originally intended for storing potatoes, it could also be used for other vegetables such as onions – or simply as a decorative item given it is a pretty shape as well as being practical useful storage.
Its natural unvarnished colour would fit nicely with any colour decor and its classic shape would look good in either a modern or traditional environment.
The vegetables are fed through the large circular hole in the top and fall to the opening at the bottom, where they are ready to be used for cooking.
Its clever age old design and material used to make this item allows air to circulate through the hopper whilst keeping the vegetables dark so they remain fresh for longer, and ensures that vegetables that have been stored the longest are picked out first.

Height to top approximately 40 cm (plus approximately 4 cm to the top of the lid’s handle).
Diameter of base approximately 29 cm.
The hopper’s lip at the bottom protrudes by approximately 10 cm.
This is a private sale from a pet, smoke and Covid free home.
After I purchased this unbranded item I realised that the space where I needed to store my vegetables is much smaller than I had thought and so it sadly won’t fit.
Although it is preloved it has therefore never been used for this purpose and hence is in very good condition.
