Buy with confidence! I’ve been on PL for several years. I list items honestly, warts & all, & the items I sell are my own. I’m happy to post at cost, but would prefer this to be collected as it’s a fragile antique item.
“Bubble glass” pictures were popular in the UK c.1880-1940, & the glass in this portrait appears to be older rather than newer, so it’s c.1900. Bubble glass is convex, which I’ve tried to show in the pics.
Portrait of Mrs Siddons, by Gainsborough. Wire hanger. Paper back. Glass intact but would benefit from re-taping as it slightly loose, a common issue with these.
Faux tiger wood frame, oval, paint on plaster, some scratches to frame. Approx 25” tall x 21” across.
Bubble glass pictures are more often found in smaller sizes than this, & smaller ones can sell for as much as 2 or 3 hundred. Asking £50 for this as the frame plus bubble glass are worth that on their own.
