Advert Description

Ukrainian classic ZAZ 968A Zaporozhets, 1975, manufactured in Zaporizhia. Rear 1200cc air-cooled V4 engine. Built while Ukraine was part of the USSR as the Soviet "people's car" in the same way as the Mini, VW Beetle, Fiat 500, 2CV etc symbolised their countries.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union they were seen as an unwelcome reminder of Soviet times of hardship and most were systematically destroyed as a result and, although millions were built between 1966 and 1979, the 968A "Big Ears" (not to be confused with the later 968M) are now rare and sought after in their original markets.

This particular car is completely original including the paintwork and absolutely solid throughout, with only minor superficial rusting around the trim strips etc (making it look tatty), and the underside was Waxoyl sprayed to keep it that way. The engine is in good condition, but is not presently running due to a fuel tank blockage. In my ownership for last 10 years and fully UK registered as a historic vehicle so tax and MOT exempt.

Asking £6,000, of which £1,000 will be donated for Ukrainian aid.
