Vintage Jam Pot Early Japanese Marutomoware Ceramic Fruit Basket Collectable Home Decor.
This charming hand decorated glazed pottery storage pot for preserves is in the shape of a circular woven brown basket with assorted coloured moulded fruit on the lid.
The lid has an opening for a jam spoon (spoon not included).
This early Vintage piece of Japanese Marutomoware is highly collectable and believed to be from the 1920’s or 1930’s.
The marks “Made In Japan” “Marutomoware” and the associated “T” have been stamped on the base of the basket.
Although this jam pot could be used for its original purpose because it is so pretty I have only ever had it on display as a decorative item.
It is in surprisingly good condition.
There are no cracks, repairs or chips - apart from a few minor nicks on the outside rim of the basket, which is to be expected given its age and previous use, and add to its character.
