Preview of the first image of SCALE MODEL BUS: ST HELENS AEC REGENT V.

Advert Description

St Helens were not afraid to experiment with various vehicle makes and bodywork builders and even bought second hand from other operators.

In 1950 they bought a batch of AEC Regents made for, but not delivered to, London Transport. Throughout their lives they had LT plaques on the boarding platform. The front destination boxes were to LT layout but St Helens put the route number in the destination box and squeezed the “via” details into the number box! The ultimate destination was displayed below.

Some AEC Regent Vs with East Lancashire bodywork were bought in the 1950s and this excellent St Helens liveried model is in a sealed box (see specimens). All vehicles passed to Merseyside PTE in 1969 along with the fleets of Liverpool, Birkenhead, Southport and Wallasey and the distinctive St Helens livery is history.
