This is an excellent example of an antique 0.900 Silver Peseta coin of Alfonso the X11 of Spain, who ruled from 1847,following a military coup that overthrew the First Spanish Republic until his death from dysentery in 1885 at the age of 27.
This coin shows the portrait of AlfonsoX11 and the Spanish coat of arms supported by the pillars of Hercules and the words on the edge of the coin state that by law, it contains 0.900 of silver and that 40 of these coins equals one kilo of silver.
The coin contains 24.62 grams of silver and is 37 mm in width and dates to the second year of his eleven-year reign and the early ones such as this are sought after by collectors and this one is very well priced.
