A Genuine Smiths Classic Car Automobile Dashboard Clock
Badged "Smiths, London British Made".
I believe its from the Art Deco period of the 1920 to 1930's.
They are normally 8 Day clocks, but it's not marked as an 8 day. It's engraved on the front dial "98.470", but I'm not sure what this signifies. It's a good functioning time piece.
It's a nice looking piece & form at approx 3 1/2" in diameter, to the engineered notches around the edge. It swings out of its metal dash receptacle. It's a real quality item with its bevelled glass.
In expected used condition for an item of this age & nature. The little internal clip that stops it swinging out wasn't catching, so I tried to bend it & it broke off, so it needs replacing or a new one making. The bits are still there.
There's some expected character full wear on the rear paint & around the front metal work revealing some of the brass. The plating is worn off around the engineered notches around the edge, revealing the gold coloured brass which looks quite nice.
It would make a nice addition to a vintage vehicle or collection.
