Advert Description

Sugarloaf is a member of Riding for the Disabled Association. We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with leading and side walking next to the riders.

We ride 3 mornings a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10-11:50.

You don’t need experience working with horses, though this would be a advantage, as all training is given. Volunteers need to be reasonably fit and like the great outdoors and be age 13 and above.

All volunteers have training. Jobs can range from getting horses ready before their rides start with grooming and tacking up, leading, side walking, mounting and dis-mounting riders etc.

RDA encourages volunteers to do their free online e-learning courses in horse care, safeguarding plus lots more, with certificates to print out at the end once passed. This is all done in your own time and speed.

Volunteers can also follow the coaching pathway to become coaches within their RDA group, which is absolutely free. An RDA coach-in-training maybe 16 years old, however, those who go on to train and then become assessed to become a Group Coach or Coach, which enables them to coach without supervision, must be aged 18 years or older.

If you have a some spare time (even if it’s an hour) and would like to volunteer please get in touch with us.

You can also find us if you go through Thurrock CVS, volunteering jobs.
