Merlin is a lovely boy. 15.1h, Arab x Welsh D, 15 years old. He was brought on using a combination of natural horsemanship and dressage and he's very sensitive to aids.
He's a lovely hack, soft-mouthed, forward but pulls up easy, bombproof in traffic. I've mostly hacked alone but he's gone out in company a few times.
I wouldn't call him a novice ride, but only because he can be a bit of a scardey cat. He never spins or runs off, he might just shudder at a cow or walk slowly past scaffolding, that kind of thing. He's very gentle on the ground and has very good manners. He also might do a small buck going into canter, nothing to unseat you but just so you know. He has also reared, never with me but with someone else riding in a storm. Extenuating circumstances (there always are!) but important to know.
The reason for the sale is that I broke my back last year (an Arab horse abroad, not Merlin) and have been unable to ride since. I was hoping to be back on him by now but I'm having further surgery on Monday and I've come to the very difficult decision that I cannot ride for the foreseeable future. I was hoping to keep Merlin on but I simply can't cope with the expenses and care, and he is young, fit and healthy and deserves to have more attention and exercise.

He is in good work, he has several sharers and has been going out several times a week since my accident.
My priority is to find a gentle and kind owner for Merlin and ideally a home with lots of turnout and company - he hates being on his own. He can live out happily but does require a buddy and he thrives on soft contact and trust.
Price to include some tack and all his rugs.
