We have a range of Purebred Large Silver Appleyard, Miniature Silver Appleyard, and Large Appleyard type ducks for multiple purposes.
The Appleyard was bred by Reginald Appleyard in the 1930s to create a "white-skinned duck with a wide, deep breast, which would also be beautiful to look at and would lay abundant white eggs."
For the Large Silver Appleyard, breed traits consist of:
- 200-270 eggs per year
- Gourmet roasting duck of up to 4kg dressed weight
- Excellent foragers
- Good brooding ability
- A sturdy frame for hardy living
Some Miniature Silver Appleyards may be no bigger than a mallard but with the same high-definition feathering and abundant egg production. The miniatures are therefore well suited for a smaller range and those not looking to breed for meat.
These rare genetics represent the pinnacle of duck breeding before the loss of the majority of our utility breeds during the Second World War. We have spent the past 4 years breeding and improving the genetics of our flocks, and are delighted to offer laying flocks, utility flocks, breeding flocks, and breeding drakes.

For the welfare of the ducks, we only sell them as ready-formed flocks with the correct duck-to-drake ratio. Single drakes may be bought separately. Please contact us to let us know what you'd like.
We also sell purebred hatching eggs (for collection only due to lack of viability after postage).
