Mid century American hand carved rolling pin.

Mid century American hand carved rolling pin with polished handles. Set as a spindle for easy rolling. Bought in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia in a trading post specialising in local crafts. Before the advent of the expressway which came 3 years later and the trading post vanished for ever.

It has 4 sets of three carvings around the roller with a different motif in each square to produce a pattern on the pastry for decorative pie topping or biscuits. It was used as a decorative kitchen item only.

Measures 36.5cm full length. Roller is 16.5cm long x 5cm diameter.
