Bluey is an attractive, well put together black Dartmoor hill pony mare. She is in good health, is around 9 years old and has had very little done with her, she is quite feral, though does like people, especially if they have carrots.
She has not yet worn a headcollar, and although she does not mind people she knows being near her, is afraid of being handled - she has clearly been mistreated previously as she cannot have a headcollar on or have her feet trimmed without sedation. (Fortunately her feet grow slowly and are very good so she does not need this very often!).
Bluey is a very kind pony, who will befriend any pony who is afraid or upset, she is exceptionally perceptive and goes out of her way to comfort ponies in need of reassurance. She has proved invaluable on occasions when we have had worried rescued ponies who needed a companion to reassure them, and Bluey has stepped in, even though she herself is virtually unhandled! She will follow you into an enclosure with a bucket, and with regular, little and often handling will become used to the positive side of people, though she is unlikely to be suitable for anything other than as a companion and needs careful handling.
Bluey is available on permanant loan as a project to a kind, knowledgeable home only. She has lived out 24/7 with us in a herd and we are looking for a home where she will be able to continue with this lifestyle.
