WESTERLY GK29 ‘GRUMPY KOALA’ CRUISER-RACER FOR SALE

Great example of this popular cruiser-racer. Fantastic to sail: fast, turns on a sixpence, but surprisingly docile and well-behaved. Tracks v. well and can be tuned to sail herself. Feels rock-solid in a blow. Not tender, loads up progressively and predictably when pushed. GK29s have crossed the Atlantic and sailed north of the Nordkapp. Capable of cruising to the Med and beyond. A boat for owners for whom sailing enjoyment is as important as accommodation.
Remarkably roomy for a 29-footer: storage under the V-berth alone is more than some boats this length have in total. Along with all fenders, lines, warps, buckets, spare fuel jerries etc., we’ve stored 2 bicycles in the cockpit locker. Foredeck is a good fit for a 2.3-2.5m dinghy.
Interior mods have greatly improved internal space and usability, particularly in the saloon and heads (it's possible to play a cello in the saloon). A folding door gives the heads proper privacy from both for’ard cabin and saloon. Saloon table is moved for’ard and folds on the centreline, giving seating that isn’t cramped and good room for moving for’ard. Downsized engine housing hugely improves usable saloon space, with an unclippable ladder greatly easing cockpit access. All-new closed-cell foam insulating lining throughout makes the cabin cosy and drastically reduces condensation.
Saloon gives up to 6 foot 3 inch headroom (increased by over an inch compared to standard boat by replacement of headlining boards with insulation). 5 good-sized berths all sleep 6-footers easily.
Back from cruising around the Scottish islands. Winterised and on the hard in Tighnabruaich - ready to sail away on more adventures in the spring.
