ANTIQUE, HANDMADE SILK TEA COSY FROM FRANCE

An antique, handmade silk tea cosy sent back from France during the first world war. The photograph does not do it justice as it is actually a lovely, rich, purple in colour, not blue! The floral decoration has hand embroidered stalks and foliage with raised appliqué flowers. It also has the words “Souvenir from France” embroidered in English, as these were made as a cottage industry to sell to British troops. This one was sent back to the UK by a great uncle who sadly died without ever returning home.
