13.1hh 14yrs Welsh C mare. Registered WPCS with Synod, Derwen, and Nebo pedigree. I’ve had Charley for 7yrs. She’s an incredibly straight forward Welsh but loves life. Ideal for a small adult, teenager or confident child. I’m 31, 5’3”, 10st and she takes the leg so well.
We’ve done a little bit of everything, showing, dressage, she hacks in open fields, traffic, has a big jump and is quick on her feet. Always placing well in the ring, inc reserve champion. We’ve performed a dressage test in fancy dress, she’s not fussed about bells, tinsel etc. we’ve taken a young man to his prom across fields into a mass crowd full of noise and floaty dresses and she wasn’t phased at all.
Always ridden in a snaffle unless Pelham needed for the ring. She is the forward going type though, no leg needed.
She lives in or out in a mixed herd, she’s always first at the gate. She’s good to shoe/ clip/ dentist. She doesn’t even need to be tied up to clip. She’s barefoot but has had fronts on when doing a lot of roadwork. She loads perfectly when done frequently but if it’s been a while she’s cautious.
She has had some time off this last year while producing a beautiful colt. Very straightforward foaling and a perfect first time mum. She’s had time off in the past when I was at uni and I use to just hop on on the days I was free to take her hacking so she doesn’t take anytime in bringing back into work.
Her only quirk is that she definitely needs a red ribbon in her tail when out competing. She’s been fine hacking in groups but hates any horse close to her back end in the ring. She is the sweetest horse with people and will stand for hours and hours for butt scratches. But she’s not always keen on other horses being too close.
