This Westfalia unit is of seriously heavy duty steel tube construction with continuous welding around both ends of the tube. In fact, it looks similarly strong to those seen on the back of a large van!
Also included (see separate image) is the quick-release mechanism complete with rubber stopper but not the releasable tow ball itself. I'd intended to fit it to my own 928 but sold the car before ever fitting it.
I dismantled, rubbed down all five components and resprayed in order to protect from corrosion but, I've left it in a dismantled state for ease of carriage. Also included photos of the fully assembled unit before dismantling and its Westfalia tag. It's not warped/bent - I just went in close with wide angle. Just add your own preferred type of quick-release (or fixed) tow ball unit plus electrical socket & wiring.
