An interesting Scarce Antique Perry & Co Travelling Inkwell in Hardwood & Pewter.
A Quality & unusual little gem. Even the Hardwood timber corners have small wooden inserts, to make the joint. I originally thought it was beech but now believe it's more likely to be mahogany.
It's stamped "Perry & Co" on one side & "Push" on the other.
In expected used condition for an item of this age & nature. Amazingly the glass bottle is still inside, however it does have a tiny historical chip to its rim. The small brass ball is also a little off centre, however it still functions fine. Obviously it's had some knocks, bumps & scratches over it's lifetime. But it's not been over polished.
Quite small & fits well in both the pocket & hand at approx 2 1/4" long.
It's quite smooth, tactile & does feels good in the hand.
This inkwell is far little smaller than most Ransomes we see. It is probable that this inkwell was made after the patent of 1861 & before Perry became a limited company in 1876.
Please study the images, as they also form part of the description & please do your own research.
