HORNSEA CONTRAST DINNER/TEA SET EIGHT PLACE SETTINGS – 65 PI

This advert is located in and around Stotfold, Hertfordshire / Bedfordshire

Advert Description

This set is an original “First Edition”. I have only shown a few library photo’s as it would be a major effort to unpack, display and repack the whole set. Look online for more photo’s.

The Design Centre Award winning Contrast is the premier design in the Hornsea range. It was created by the foremost ceramic designer, Martin Hunt, The Victoria and Albert Museum chose the Contrast range for their permanent collection in 1976.

It was bought for use on special occasions shortly after we were married and it has probably not been used more than eight or nine times. There is no sign of wear, cracks, chips or crazing! We have several other sets of crockery we use and have been reluctant to spoil this pristine set.

The set comprises eight of each of the following: dinner plates, large side plates, small tea plates, dessert bowls, straight sided dessert dishes, cups and saucers. There are three jugs of varying sizes, two casserole dishes with handles and lids and one each of the following: large serving dish, oval platter (14”/35cm), teapot and sugar bowl with lid. I am sure there is someone out there who would love to own this set in its entirety and, therefore, I am reluctant to sell the items separately.

Please message me for further information on individual pieces. Because of the weight I am offering the set for collection so the purchaser can inspect each item individually to see the excellent condition. Packaging and postage would be very expensive! Payment must be by cash on collection or PayPal in advance. I will not accept any other form of payment. Please ignore the price
- just make a sensible offer!

If you bought these items in the same condition from the various online stores it would probably cost you the best part of nine hundred pounds. Remember, this is a “first edition” set and therefore considerably more collectable and valuable than the later Lancaster range. It is now fifty years since manufacture and is, therefore, vintage!
