This adaptable seat has some good features to maximise comfort and use.
You can purchase a Group 0+ car seat to use from birth to 13kg (which is rear facing), and then purchase a Group 1 car seat to use up to 18kg (which is often forward facing).
The Mothercare Madrid car seat has been designed to fulfil both these roles – it’s called a combination car seat or multi-group car seat and covers both Group 0+ and Group 1.Fitted using your car’s seatbelts, the Madrid first faces rearward. When your baby is big enough (weighs over 9kg), the seat is turned around and re-fitted to be forward facing.
This is then used until your child is 18kg (roughly 4 years of age).
The Madrid has a 5-point harness, with chest and buckle pads for added comfort. It also has individual harness tensioners, which give a really tight fit. The five recline positions can be used whilst your child is in the seat forwards facing. When the seat is being used for a newborn, the integral body and head supports add another level of comfort.
The chair is simple to fit with easily accessible lock off clips. The padding and comfort are very good. There are substantial side wings, which give great head support. The removable, hand washable cover is an essential feature.
