Advert Description

Searching for a part (3/4 days a week) or possibly full loaner for my 16hh, 22 year old thoroughbred gelding, Ziggy, starting the 1st of April. I’m currently at university in a different city and I sadly don’t have much time for him as I once did, so I’m looking for an experience rider to take him on.

I’d like someone over the age of 18 (for insurance reasons), who is proficient and experienced with history of schooling and hacking and must be capable of riding through all gaits. Ziggy is not difficult, but as an ex-racer, he does have a mind of his own sometimes. He works well with a mature, experienced rider. He is forward in hacks and likes to lead. He can have occasional moments in the arena where he needs to be encouraged to work, otherwise he is bombproof and understands what is being asked of him.

Despite his age, he’s very lively and happy to be entered in local competitions, including jumping. He is an ex racer and needs to be worked regularly. This means that he needs someone who will ride him well at least 3 times a week so he is not suitable to be a companion or happy hacker.

As this is a full time loan, loaner will be responsible for the majority of financial obligations for Ziggy and this to be discussed upon enquiry. Preferably, we would like to keep him at his current yard in Gildersome, Leeds in order to keep his care consistent.

Ziggy is overall an incredibly lovely horse, willing to work and always excited to see you. He’s great around children and will always be gentle if you happen to have little ones. He loves being groomed and will always be looking for treats!

We are currently looking for a part loaner for 3/4 days per week but will consider full loan (to move yards if in or around West Yorkshire area). He is currently on full livery. Please contact for details.
