Advert Description

A perfect starter flock.

Sale of some of our Pedigree Hampshire Down ewes from the Clarendon Flock and the choice of an unrelated ram.

Our sheep are Signet recorded, Scrapie monitored, MV accredited, Genotyped and more recently we have started DNA testing with HDSBA & Neogen Europe. They are primarily grass fed and on the Heptavac P plus system, regularly wormed and clicked.

All the ewes are birth notified and registered with HDSBA.

Hampshire Down is a medium sized, native terminal sire breed. Of handsome appearance, the breed is intelligent and characterised by it’s dark, woolly face and legs.

Hampshire Down rams are a popular choice for the commercial producer with Hampshire sired lambs finishing rapidly from grass at 12 weeks of age. Lambs have weight and good conformation making them desirable, selling particularly well deadweight. Due to their good covering of wool, Hampshires also make a good choice for outdoor lambing, with lambs up quickly and ready to suck.

Hampshire Down breeding rams, vasectomised (teaser) rams and Hampshire cross females, are in demand in early lambing flocks due to the fact they can lamb all year round. These lambs are targeted towards spring and easter lamb premiums.

The Hampshire Down is a UK native, terminal sire breed and has great longevity. (Our oldest breeding Ewe was 13 years of age and happy rearing twins each winter).
