Kolster Brandes ER30 valve radio, manufactured 1949. I repaired the set and it is in working order, receiving several stations loud and clear on all wavebands when a 6' aerial wire is connected. I replaced the defective passive components with modern substitutes (leaving the original parts in place but out of circuit), and replaced the broken tuning drive cord. The tuning indicator ("magic eye") has a circuit modification to increase the anode voltage, but although the indicator works it is still very dim. (Replacement valves can be obtained but for me the £20 cost was not justified.) The cabinet is in good condition but would benefit from cosmetic restoration (and a good clean and polish - not my forte!) I have only lightly refitted the control knobs in case the next owner wants to undertake further work, as they are difficult to remove.
